10 Prep Steps for a Fleet Graphics and Vehicle Wrap Project

Fleet graphics take your brand with you wherever you go. When done properly, they create an indelible impression on anyone who shares the road with you. But how do you go from a bland, boring vehicle to a fully wrapped ride? If you've always wanted to take your branding to the next level, but you're not sure how to do it, we're here to help set your brand in motion.

What Do You Need to Start?

If you've never explored the option of branding your vehicles, you're probably not sure where to begin. That's okay! There are really three things you need to know before you begin a fleet graphics project:

  • Graphics—Ideally, you'll have a vision of what you want portrayed on your fleet. However, it's not absolutely necessary. Our sales person can brainstorm with you to gather the information our in-house design department needs to create a concept.

  • Timeline—Your satisfaction is important to us, so we want to be sure that you have a realistic expectation of how long it will take to create fleet graphics that meet our standards.

  • Your Fleet—Before we begin the process, it's important that you've identified your fleet. This means that you come to us knowing how many vehicles you want to wrap, and where they're located.

Common Roadblocks

We've been creating graphics for vehicles for years, so we're very familiar with issues that can put the brakes on your project. These issues are easily preventable with a little foresight. Some of these problems include:

Incomplete Vehicle List—When a client comes to us with an incomplete vehicle list, it makes it very difficult to know precisely how many vehicles they need wrapped. A large fleet without an updated vehicle list, a list lacking models and years for the vehicles, can create a roadblock that will extend the amount of time it takes to get the job done. It's smart to do a complete vehicle inventory, with the most up-to-date information on it, before you approach your printer.

No Artwork—As we said before, we can create an original design with our in-house designers, but it does take more time (and more money). You can save both if you're able to bring a design that can be implemented immediately.

Top Ten Things to Know Before You Start A Fleet Graphics Project

  1. How many vehicles do you want to brand?

  2. What is your timeline?

  3. Are these new vehicles? Used? Both?

  4. If they are used, is there removal of the old graphics? If so, how long have they been on the vehicles?

  5. Where are they located? If new units, where will they be delivered? If used vehicles, where are they located? Local? Out of state? Multiple locations?

  6. Do you have an idea of what you want your graphics to look like?

  7. Do you have a Marketing department or a designer already working on your concept?

  8. Do you need our design department to create something?

  9. How long are the graphics going to be on the vehicles? 1-year, 3-years, 5-years, 7-10 years?

  10. If you have existing graphics, what is it that you don’t like about them? Old look? Company acquisition? Failing, peeling, cracking?
